Facts and Questions
What is Aromatherapy?
Aromatherapy is a branch of vital medicine that uses essential oils as its principal therapeutic tool to support health and overall well-being.

What is an essential oil and how do they work?
Essential oils are highly concentrated extracts (aromatic substances or “the essence”) found in the glands and cells of different parts of plants and are composed of many individual components. These components enter the body either by inhalation, topical application or taken internally. They're absorbed into the bloodstream then travel through the body bringing support and assistance where needed.
What can essentials oils help with?
Most common issues they may help with are sleep, anxiety, stress and illness. Essential oil components and chemical constituents have analgesic, anti-inflammatory, anti-spasmodic, anti-bacterial, anti-depressant, cicatrisant (skin healing), carminative (gas relieving) and rubefacient (increases blood flow to an area) properties just to name a few. They also have more subtle properties such as balancing, calming, uplifting and grounding the emotions and energy.

Why a custom blend with an aromatherapist?
The uses of single essential oils are commonly used and definitely have benefits. But, when a trained aromatherapist uses the knowledge from their extensive training to create custom blends and products something "magical" happens. There's a synergy that occurs and the benefits are enhanced when oils are combined. Results can be instant, gradual or subtle.

What training does an aromatherapist have?
Aromatherapists must attend and graduate from an aromatherapy school that's approved and accredited by either the The National Association for Holistic Aromatherapy (NAHA), The Alliance of International Aromatherapists (AIA), The International Federation of Professional Aromatherapists (IFPA), The International Institute for Complementary Therapists (IICT) or The American Association of Drugless Practitioners (AADP). Course studies include chemistry to understand how and why the oils work the way they do. We learn how to blend according to chemical families, individual components, plant parts and aroma. In addition to completing the required course work and passing all exams, they must also take anatomy and physiology, complete/participate in case studies and submit a research paper. They must also meet continuing education course requirements.

Safety considerations
There's a lot of misinformation and advice circulating around the use of essential oils. Most of these uses are not considered safe by the experts in the field. There are numerous factors that must be taken into consideration to ensure the safe and effective use of essential oils. Such as use with the elderly, pregnant/breastfeeding women, children and those with complex medical conditions. Essential oils must be used at safe dilutions to avoid skin irritation or phototoxic reactions.

Purity of the essential oils used in your products
Every essential oil used in Care Filled Essentials products are certified organic or organically wild crafted (grown in their natural habitat free of pesticides and synthetic preservatives). They are tested for purity and a GC/MS report is obtained for each of the oils. We want to avoid the use oils that may be adulterated with chemicals or not even be essential oils.
